Meet our Judges - 2020


Kevin McCarey is an Emmy Award winning filmmaker. His films have been shown on the National Geographic Channel, PBS, NBC and the Turner Networks. He is also a published author. He was raised in New York Hudson Valley, and in his early career he became an Oceanographer. Kevin then left the sea to study at the University of Oregon where he received an MA in Film Studies. He has received multiple awards for his filmmaking, and in 2017 he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Marine Sanctuaries for his work as an oceanographer, filmmaker and author. Today he continues to work in film and is a professor at Savannah College of Art and Design. 



Jason resides in Ireland and has always been fascinated by wildlife. He studied biological sciences with specialization in zoology at university in London,  and has worked with BBC NHU in Bristol. He's been part of multiple conservation projects around the world, and went on to study wildlife film-making in Cape Town. Today he works as a research and runs the website



Lorcan is very passionate about wildlife, and today he is the Wildlife Officer at the Ireland Heritage Council. Previously he studied Environmental Resource Management in the Dublin University of Technology, and then went on to get a Environmental Science BSc.Hons in University of Ulster. Lorcan then became a Park Ranger and was responsible for more than 50 bogs in the south of Irealnd. Today he works for the Heritage Council, and he manages various projects that benefit wildlife in the Irish environment.

The Prizes this year


The winner for best Feature Film will receive 500 Euro and laurels.
The winner for best Student Film will receive 200 Euro and laurels.
The winner for best Short Film will receive 300 Euro and Laurels..

The winner for Audience Choice Popular Vote will receive a special laurel.
